12th - Battle of the Boyne in the United Kingdom

People in Northern Ireland have a bank holiday on or after July 12 to commemorate the Battle of Boyne, which occurred on Ireland’s east coast in 1690. It's also known as "Orangemen's Day", "Orange Day", "the Glorious Twelfth" or just "the Twelfth".

Cool down with a scoop (or two) of refreshing ice cream on Ice Cream Day. Celebrated annually since 1984 on the third Sunday of July in the United States, the unofficial holiday celebrates everyone’s favorite sweet treat.The holiday was created by an official proclamation by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. At the time, the holiday was supposed to be only celebrated once - on July 15, 1984. The ice cream industry, however, decided to continue the tradition every year since. In addition to observing a National Ice Cream Day, the proclamation also designated July as National Ice Cream Month. This too has now become a tradition.

International Children's Day!

          Belarus is home to more than 1.5 million children. Almost 120,000 babies were born in the country last year alone. Taking care of them is the task of not only the state, but also every adult Belarusian. Particular attention is paid to orphans - over 80% of them are brought up in families.
        Charity campaigns and flashmobs, as well as children's festivals and competitions will be held throughout the country today to mark International Children's Day.
         The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed June 1 to be International Children’s Day in 1925. After the conference, different governments around the world decided to declare a day as Children’s Day to draw attention to children’s issues. Many countries chose June 1, so this is the reason, why International Children’s Day take place on June 1.
         Children’s Day is recognized on various days in many places around the world, to honor children globally. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954 to protect an “appropriate” day.
         International Day for Protection of Children, is observed in many countries as Children’s Day on June 1 since 1950, was established by the Women’s International Democratic Federation on its congress in Moscow (22 November 1949). Major global variants include a Universal Children’s Day on November 20, by United Nations recommendation.

Even though meteors can only be seen by the naked eye when it is dark, meteoroids enter the Earth's atmosphere all the time. It is estimated that about 20 to 25 million meteors weighing about 100 tons in total enter the Earth's atmosphere every day!

Поздравляем!!!

         20 мая на базе ГУО "Гимназия г. Щучина" прошла X районная научно-практическая конференция "ОТКРЫТИЕ".
         Поздравляем учащихся 10 "А" класса Рябко Давида, Сергей Ксению и Яховскую Юлию, которые были награждены дипломом II степени в секции "Иностранные языки".

Top School-2017

          19 мая любители и ценители музыки и иностранного языка собрались в актовом зале нашей школы, чтобы оценить исполнительское мастерство участников фестиваля песен на иностранном языке "Top School-2017". Фестиваль был посвящён 500-летнему юбилею нашего города. В рамках конкурса проводилась благотворительная акция. Вырученные денежные средства будут использованы на озеленение пришкольного участка. Вниманию зрителей были предоставлены песни на английском,болгарском, польском и украинском языках.
         Открыл вечер победитель "Top School-2016" Давид Сацуро. Конкурсанты выступали в двух возрастных группах. Положительные эмоции вызвало выступление самой юной участницей конкурса Метковской Эвелины, учащейся 1 класса. Пусть в этом году она не одержала победы, но мы верим, что всё у неё впереди.
           По итогам конкурса первые места в своих возрастных группах заняли Жагунь Анастасия (7 "Б" класс), Сацуро Давид( 11"А" класс); вторые места - Кузнецова София (6 "Б" класс), Семашко Наталья (11 "А" класс); третьи места - Гелунова Анжелика (5 "С" класс), Сороко Диана (8 "А" класс). Гран-при фестиваля завоевала Станейко Ирина (10 "А" класс) с песней "Я так хочу" (группа "Океан Эльзы").
        Надеемся, что все участники и зрители фестиваля получили огромный заряд позитивной энергии. Приглашаем вас поболеть за наших участников на районном фестивале " Top School-2017",который состоится 1 июня в 15.00. во Дворце детей и молодёжи г. Щучина.
