Belarus is home to more than 1.5 million children. Almost 120,000 babies were born in the country last year alone. Taking care of them is the task of not only the state, but also every adult Belarusian. Particular attention is paid to orphans - over 80% of them are brought up in families.
Charity campaigns and flashmobs, as well as children's festivals and competitions will be held throughout the country today to mark International Children's Day.

The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed June 1 to be International Children’s Day in 1925. After the conference, different governments around the world decided to declare a day as Children’s Day to draw attention to children’s issues. Many countries chose June 1, so this is the reason, why International Children’s Day take place on June 1.
